Fame and Honor – your good name depends on them.

Personal rights in Austria are protected by numerous legal provisions, e.g. protection of the name in § 43 of the Austrian Civil Code, the right to respect for private life through § 1328 Austrian Civil Code, legal protection against defamation pursuant to § 1330 Austrian Civil Code as well as the Austrian Criminal Code and the Media Act, and with regard to rights in terms of protection of one’s own image, through § 78 Copyright Act, author’s moral rights through §§ 19ff Copyright Act, inventor’s honour through § 20 Patent Act and, last but not least, the Data Protection Act.
